This is very misleading, as it appears the filename actually contains
single quotes. And I tried and failed to fix it using \

I have bash-4.3.42-3.fc23.x86_64 and my result is

-rw-r--r--. 1 przemek   plugdev        0 Jun  6 11:58 touch and go

so there must be some weird setting that you have and I don't.
