Thanks, I updated Bug 1259865 with this information. People who aren't upgrading in the near future to F24 might not see it otherwise.
That was the point in my question... that yes, the issue had been fixed going forward, but the mess still remained. The bug report didn't have
clear guidance. Now it does.
