Are you reading it from the specfile?

It is just an implementation detail of the packaging (the RemovePathPostfixes
feature of rpm).  The string you mentioned neither appears in the SONAME, nor
in any file installed by the RPMs in question.

libcurl-minimal is really a drop-in replacement for libcurl, keeping its ABI.

As RPM uses the curl command and not libcurl, maybe curl-minimal should be built with a static libcurl to avoid needing two libcurl packages?
