Hello all,
I am already a long time user of Fedora and enjoy every new release. For
quite some time I pondered on finally contributing some bits and pieces
back to the community. After last weeks meet-up with my team and
especially Lubomir during devconf.cz, I finally decided to start this.
I work in Red Hat's kernel networking team from the very small (in terms
of number of engineers) Zurich office, plumbing around in the upstream
networking stack and also fixing bugs in the RHEL kernel codebase.
I am happy that Lubomir already accepted me as a mentor and sponsors me
for the Fedora packager group.
At first, I will try my luck with a probably more simple package, GNU
datamash - <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1126308>, were I
am waiting for the one week heads-up time to pass, so I can take over
the package after a stall from the submitter. After that I will submit a
package for iovisor-bcc - <https://github.com/iovisor/bcc> - which
provides tooling around the new eBPF infrastructure in the kernel. This
might eventually need some fixes upstream first so the build process is
streamlined within Fedora.
Furthermore I hope I can bring some more tools in the area of Linux
networking to the universe of Fedora from time to time.
Bye,
Hannes
