FWIW, I'm using Scratch on Fedora to teach programming at our school (based on your recommendation at DevConf 2014), but we're currently using a custom RPM that contains Scratch 2.0, the Adobe Air version. 1.4 was just too buggy (and was also missing some features that kids were using on Scratch 2.0 on their Windows systems at home). I'd say, "Let it go." And then burst into one of my daughters' favorite songs.
