Ah... understood .... Where is /lib/firmware indicated in the software?

This is no longer the firmware location because /usr is not guaranteed to be mounted early in bootup, and therefore you're not guaranteed to have firmware for your network card, for example, before you've mounted your networked /usr share. Which is a problem. Make sure everything is in /lib/firmware, which is the correct location.
