These days, many popular, important, and very relevant-to-users packages are written in other languages than C/C++ (Java/Python, just to name two). Please, let's not start disparaging packages written on other languages as "not serious software". I don't think that's going to be very productive.

-1, all the serious software requires gcc, gcc-c++ and make to build.
