Hi!
I know that Fedora/RedHat tries to push UTF8 everywhere so how about modifying /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit to have such a line:
loadkeys -u $KEYMAP < /dev/tty0 > /dev/tty0 2>/dev/null && \
This could resolve some problems with inputing non-US-ASCII characters on tty1 with Czech, Slovene or Polish keytable: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=74264 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=81760#c7 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=125130#c2
Description of this bug is here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=74263#c1
Unfortunately, I don't know whether it has disadvantages to other keymaps :/
BTW may someone answer to 5th question in this bug? https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=125130#c3
