When prelink was added by default, the justification was the performance benefits to startup. To justify removing it, we just need to collect data to show that those performance benefits no longer exist, with current hardware and software combination in Fedora. That is what this email thread is seeking to confirm. So assuming no one comes forward to show some incredible benefit(s) of prelink, a proposal to kill it by default will surely follow.
