That way people will be able to work on them.
The idea is to give people the largest amount of free RAM possible in the default config, this is esp. important for 256MB RAM boards. People who want to use cedar / mali will need to do all kind of reconfiguration themselves anyways. I'll add something about needing to tweak the kernelcmdline for this to the README.
