Well, the USB 3.0 ports likely use a different controller from the USB
2.0 ports, so it's not THAT weird. At a first guess the issue is likely
in the driver for that particular USB controller, so I'd probably use
lspci to identify it, poke through journalctl for any juicy messages
that look related to it, then throw myself on the mercy of the kernel
team, if it were me...
