/usr/share/mime oddities

I noticed that TeXmacs-1.0.7.18-1.fc18 ships /usr/share/mime/types and similar files which are usually auto-generated by shared-mime-info. Is this a bug in TeXmacs?

geda-gschem-1:1.8.1-1.fc18, geda-symbols-1:1.8.1-1.fc18, qelectrotech-0.30-0.4.svn1844.fc18 ship files in the /usr/share/mime/applications directory, e.g., /usr/share/mime/application/x-geda-schematic.xml. This seems to run counter to the shared-mime-info specification <http://standards.freedesktop.org/shared-mime-info-spec/shared-mime-info-spec-0.18.html#s2_layout>.
