careless introduced dependencies

what needs to be done that maintainers try to minimize dependencies?

what finally happens with careless introduced dependencies
is like below - you have a php application using php-pecl-imagick
and ImageMagick or a cross-dep is hadrly pulling colord, sane-backends....
