For xorg.conf.d snippets, use this section instead:

Section "InputClass"
   Identifier "Enable touchpad tapping"
   MatchDriver "synaptics"
   Option "TapButton" "1"
EndSection

this will only match on devices using the synaptics driver and you can leave
the rest up to the default configurations, no need to copy/modify any other
files.
