Ok, I updated the kernel to 3.3.0 and removed and reinstalled all Xen
packages but still didn't help. 

As soon as you try to boot any of the Xen entries using either kernel
you get an immediate kernel panic.

It seems this must be related to using an encrypted drive somehow.   2
kernels, same errors on encrypted drive.
