That's such a 90's thinking :-) At this stage, and looking forward, suspending on idle is a good idea on /servers/, where you save power at the server and at the AC. There is work to do across the stack to make S/R work smoothly and transparently. OLPC is doing much of it -- help us getting it into mainstream code (and thinking!).
