I suggest you take a look back into the mailinglist archives, all the way back to pre-fedora core 1 discussions. Let me give you my personal summary where things stand: 1) everyone sort of agrees this is not a bad idea 2) red hat employees have said this is a low priority for them, but if people in the community want to work together to clean up the comps groupings and produce a smaller minimal install feel free to start working on it. 3)pre-fc1 there was some discussion on the mailinglist between community members about what to do about it...and then they wandered off never to be heard from again. -jef"minimal install...an itch waiting for someone to feel compelled to scratch it"spaleta
