Or BIOS code? Or device firmware for the adapters installed?

Don't forget to get a completely open cellphone, laptop, fridge,
microwave, car, house, etc. You'll need to give up using anything
non-open, so unfortunately will probably not be able to post here due to
the entire chain of devices between you and the outside not being open.
