It doesn't work out-of-the-box, and when it does there are limitations.

First you have to edit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and add the line:

FileDevice Yes

Restart cups

CUPS will refuse to to do raw printing to such a file, so if you want
raw, you are SOL.
