I have had problems with it sometimes and that's probably not a rare case. Just to avoid problems if locking, whatever doesn't work correctly in that particular server. I can't imagine what harm that would cause to default under /tmp? Of course, that posting refers to 'current' which may not be the version in Fedora, so this should be planned for future releases.
