I've benchmarked extensively only firefox, the new mozilla browser, and i could say that the page render significantly faster on i686 build against a i386 one... i've no other benchmarks now, but i'll try to do some tests.
True, AFAICT, the current mozilla packages in Fedora Core do not include cpu optmizations.
