Didn't read all the thread, so if answered apologies.

For TB I did "yum erase thunderbird"
Yum localinstall thunderbird-2.0.0.17-1.fc10.i386.rpm
(downloaded from F10 mirror)
No dep problems when done.

I am using Firefox 3.5b, so can't help there.
