You can unset LESSOPEN to revert to the expected > behaviour. Except I can't repro his issue. I think less binary uses file magic to see if the file is actually an rpm or not before passing it off to lesspipe. I can less text files with ".rpm" on the end of them all day long here: [jkeating@yoda jkeating]$ less -V less 382 [jkeating@yoda jkeating]$ rpm -q less less-382-3 [jkeating@yoda jkeating]$ echo "I am not an rpm" >> mynew-1.2.i386.rpm [jkeating@yoda jkeating]$ less mynew-1.2.i386.rpm I am not an rpm mynew-1.2.i386.rpm (END) This is on FC2 x86_64. I can do the same on 32bit FC2 (no testing packages on either) - -- Jesse Keating RHCE (http://geek.j2solutions.net) Fedora Legacy Team (http://www.fedoralegacy.org) GPG Public Key (http://geek.j2solutions.net/jkeating.j2solutions.pub) Was I helpful?
