The latest plymouths have been a bit of a regression for me. I see some plymouth related locking errors at boot.
I've had success with adding 'nomodeset vga=794' on my boot line, which gets the spin version back again. You might not need nomodeset, and vga=794 seems counter-intuitive but works for me.

kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.29.2-126.fc11.i586 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01
rhgb quiet
Also /usr/lib/plymouth looks like:
drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 6. Mai 00:21 .
drwxr-xr-x. 228 root root 135168 6. Mai 03:50 ..
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 13 6. Mai 00:20 default.so ->
spinfinity.so
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 10040 1. Mai 19:50 details.so
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 7068 1. Mai 19:50 label.so
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 29588 1. Mai 19:50 solar.so
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 15256 1. Mai 19:50 spinfinity.so
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 11508 1. Mai 19:50 text.so
But all I see on boot is that progress bar.
