Unfortunately, writing a DeviceKit backend for Solid isn't going to magically give us that stuff, we need either to extend Solid to support the new functionality (as has already been done for other stuff, the Solid API is not set in stone, stuff can get added as long as binary compatibility is kept) or write apps directly against DeviceKit-disks. I think we first need to shoot for a DeviceKit backend to Solid which implements the existing Solid interfaces.
