Pavel Roskin has indicated to me that he doesn't want to merge the UTF-8 patches yet, but that shouldn't be a problem to use them downstream, as I am sure SUSE also will. They do need some more testing however. For now I first have to see which parts of the patches have already been merged with CVS and which not, so I can propose some more of them for upstream inclusion. But things are coming along nicely.
