No problem here. :-)
# lspci | grep ATI
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M24 1P [Radeon 
Mobility X600]

Although in your defense I can say that most of the crashes (~95%) that I had 
due to mode setting happened with firefox. In my case mostly that occurred 
when reading google reader (not necessarily related because I use mostly 
konqueror to browse).
