Given that next week is the Feature freeze, and that gives maintainers a
week to do integration work on the features, done something as
disruptive as this should happen sooner rather than later.  Landing
everything the last week before beta freeze leads to a crappy freeze and
a lengthy freeze which just holds up further bugfixing.
