For the record I had to:

# cd /lib64
# ln -s libssl.so.0.9.8j libssl.so.7
# ln -s libcrypto.so.0.9.8j libcrypto.so.7

to get both sudo and yum functional. Obviously you'd go to /lib on a
32-bit system.
