This is the point.  It's lots of extra, unsexy work to backport newer
packages, updates and security fixes to EPEL.  That's what people pay
good money to Red Hat to do to get RHEL (or use CentOS).  Any 'Fedora
Legacy II' project will have to do the same thing, at the very least
with security patches.
