Well, do I want to maintain a spec file with a massive %if 0 through the middle of it? Not particularly. Please, do, just maintain your imap package in Extras and have it Obsolete and Provide libc-client.
Extras doesn't allow overriding core packages, that's one important reason I'm requesting the name change.
Or, if you're not going to consider changing names, please do *not* update the packages, so that they can be installed along-side one another.
