HAL functionality replaced it.  Kudzu probes hardware directly to
determine if it exists.  For mass storage devices both updfstab from
kudzu and fstab-sync from hal were stepping on each other toes.  Since
fstab-sync offers the same functionality as updfstab with the added
benefit that it instantly detects any mass storage that is hotplugged,
we use that.  HAL is going to be pervasive and a much more standard and
maintainable way of detecting hardware.
