It seems like Gnome Photos lack proper active maintenance with several outstanding issues and merge requests to resolve as highlighted on https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-photos/-/issues and https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-photos/-/merge_requests. It would be great to have active contributions to at least start one of these available fixes.
