initiated now after hitting the "Restart & Update" button in GNOME
Software, and the second step of a Mutter (I guess) "Restart & Install
Updates" confirmation dialog is gone.
Sorry, ignore me here, I apparently misremembered: Just checked again,
and the second step "Restart & Install Updates" confirmation dialog is
still there, and the terrifying beep is emitted after pressing that
confirmation dialog's "Restart & Install" button.
