   * AGREED: Workstation WG agrees to install gamemode by default. While
we think the design is fundamentally not ideal, the security
implications of allowing the current session to adjust cpu governor
and gpu clocking are small. (kalev, 14:22:56)

Has anyone dived into a security review of this code before including it
in the default installation?

The code could certainly do with a review:
https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode/tree/master/daemon

By installing it by default, we're also making it part of the "API" that
games and applications expect to be able to use, without having checked
its API, its usability long-term, and even if it's fit for purpose.

I agree with Bastien here, including this without first doing a thorough
technical review feels premature.

Regards,

Hans (one of the Fedora Games SIG founders)
