Might there be any relation to:

Bug 1135793 - Unable to boot LiveCD or boot.iso for F21 or rawhide on
Acer C720P https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1135793

I did have to cycle through the three usb ports for my dvd drive just to
get it to boot.  However, this bug report is for the 64bit image; my
netbook is a 5 year old model still running 32bit, if this makes any
difference to the equation.
