What elements of firefox are you referring to here that would "look
alien to the rest of the desktop"?
The work that the GNOME integration team does on the theme[1] and the
theme tweaker extension[2] gets FIrefox (GTK2 version) looking pretty
close to most default gnome apps, not perfectly integrated, but
definitely not "alien", IMHO.
