That's a bug, will be fixed in GNOME 3.8 once the new background
handling code is finished (currently being reviewed).

So there is no way to workaround this for F18?

Also do you know if there is a Bug for it in the GNOME or Fedora Bugzillas? (just so i can point the user to it on askfedora)
