Re: GIMP is O.K.

Hi,
GIMP is O.K. It doesn't matter whether it is in a single window or in multiple windows.
However I found something else that may be included in the new developments.

The optimisation filters of GIMP (Equalise, White Balance, Normalise etc.) - and not only of GIMP, in Photoshop it is the same - are optimised to make wonderful photos, pictures and top design artworks but they are not appropriate to make backgrounds (where the requirements are different - to reduce the contrast, reduced colour saturation, optimal lightness, metal or glass texture, etc.)
Well, I know these are the same filters, but their parameters should be set-up at different values.
An option 'Auto Wallpapers' to the Colour Menu could be added in the future setting the best values, appropriate for design of backgrounds, screensavers, 'caps' of packages etc.

Best regards,
Christo Petkov

Regards

I'm going to miss the 'old-good' multi-windowed GIMP [?]

It isn't going away ... it will be still there as an option.

So instead of multi window you can choose "multiwindow" or "singlewindow"
