Even bigger picture, you may be able to identify at least different use cases: 1) some things may be done by default 2) nothing may be done by default. One way of thinking about the first case is that it is like when you visit amazon.com. You don't have to login to amazon to look at products. You are basically just a guest and have the default experience. Once you identify yourself you get a customized experience. And it remembers you when you come back or until you click "If you are not Jon then click here." The second case is basically the traditional enterprise deny first scheme that we use now. It may be that outside of institutions the first case is more appropriate.
