See Bill and Jeremy's email, but in this case, many things (gdm included) 
require something that libdmx provides:

libdmx-0:1.0.2-3.1.x86_64
gdm-1:2.16.4-1.fc6.x86_64
xorg-x11-server-Xdmx-0:1.1.1-47.4.fc6.x86_64
xorg-x11-utils-0:7.1-2.fc6.x86_64
libdmx-devel-0:1.0.2-3.1.x86_64
