Hello, Okay, this is a notice to let folks know that Mike Hoffman and I are working on a DHCP configuration program, which I'll call system-config-dhcp (or system-config-dhcpd?). The first "milestone" will include basic configuration for a DHCP server to serve ranges to one subnet. I've looked over the system-config-* programs to see if there are any standards to adhere to, or tools to use, and I haven't really found any. So, before I get too far in this, I want to find out if there are any pointers anyone has. My hope is for this tool is that it will come standard in future FC releases, and I want to make sure that it matches up with the other tools as closely as possible. The other thing that will come of this project is that I will be documenting the "common practises" that I am informed of, and the basic method of writing such an application. It is my intention to get working on the other "useful but nonexistant" tools listed at http://fedora.redhat.com/projects/config-tools/ as soon as this one is mature enough to be used in simple scenarios. Brent, perhaps you'd care to comment or discuss this on irc (srbaker on Freenode and OFTC) as I have some ideas for these types of tools that you may find interesting; and your input would be especially helpful.
