Not that forking solves problems but if we have multiple stages of the animated background and only a couple aren't working maybe we can, dare I say, fork the logo extension and tweak it to show the white version of the logo where sufficient contrast is lacking?

The watermark in grey-scale (rgba: 888a85ff) with roughly 30% opacity from Gnome Shell background extension works well on both day and night. The issue is dawn and dusk because of similar grey color which possibly need adjustment. Another suggestion is to control the opacity of the fog too.
