Variant with lots of thin blocks look very pale and lost against the white text (logo and title). I think we have no more time for experiments (our deadline for this 2013-06-11) and I uploaded my variant to the media art wiki [1] and my fedorapeople space [2].

here is a further (somewhat super quick) exploration of Alexander's using those blocks as the 19 idea. Note that this is a super quick implementatinon of the idea. The blocks need to be lined up and randomized a bit more...
