synfig works great as an animation project although, like blender, it takes a lot to get used to at first. the biggest problem for most (especially me) is the drawing aspect. Basically, it sucks for drawing. I draw everything in Inkscape and import into synfig to animate. Importing svg and xcf is now in the .62 versions from the website.  Once I got over the fact that Synfig is not Inkscape, I learned to adjust.

We're working on restructuring the documentation for new users and making it easier for new developers to come aboard.  I love to hear from others what exactly turns people away so that we can improve the program.

I tried it a couple of months ago and wasn't able to do anything with
it, is very unintuitive.
