Well, Red Hat/Fedora have *major* contributions to GNOME, OpenOffice.org
and OOo in Fedora is very different compared with the one from Sun.

Uno,
My primary goal is to present to the user the best possible computing experience. Some earlier threads have argued splash screen modification is not required as Fedora loads these two applications very quickly. In most cases this is true. However, I do not want to assume this is true for everyone in every case.
As to the concern of "hi jacking" their effort. I hope the communities of OpenOffice and Gimp would be flattered by the effort and appreciate our intent to present their products in the best possible light.
The down side is midstream version changes. I believe we are ok on this.
Thank you for the comments,
John
