4 Holiday Food Safety Tips

Food brings people together during the holidays and throughout the year. As you enjoy sharing festive meals with your friends and family, dont forget to keep food safety in mind.

Use these 4 food safety tips to keep you and your family safe during the holiday season.

  1. Remember Clean, Separate, Cook and Chill when preparing food. Learn what each step means.
  2. Prepare a bacteria-free buffet by using small serving portions and taking food temperatures.
  3. Be aware of food allergies. Watch the Food Allergies Reducing the Risks video for specific food allergy tips.
  4. Read the recommended list of some foods to avoid for high-risk groups: pregnant women, young children, older adults and people with immune systems weakened by disease or medical treatments. These groups are more susceptible to foodborne illnesses.
