In January,
OWH launched our new Diverse Women in Clinical Trials Initiative with a social
media rally and Women
in Clinical Trials Thunderclap. With your support, we reached millions of people across the country, spreading awareness about the importance of
diverse women participating in clinical trials. As we continue to promote clinical
trial diversity, I encourage you to support FDA Office of Minority Health’s #ClinicaTrialsChampion
Thunderclap and show your support for increased diversity in clinical
trials. 
OWH
continues to connect women to FDA safety and health information. In this
eUpdate, we have included links to educational resources on topics such as
heart health, HIV and clinical trials. Please share this update with your
networks and encourage women to look to FDA for women’s health information.

Women can make a difference in the
safety and effectiveness of future medical products by participating in
clinical trials. Women of all ages, racial and ethnic groups, and women with
disabilities or chronic health conditions should think about being in a
clinical trial.

           Aspirin-Containing Antacid Medicines Can Cause Bleeding

The next
time you reach for an over-the-counter (OTC) product to treat your upset
stomach or heartburn, consider whether you should use one of the many antacids
that don’t have aspirin. Aspirin-containing medicines to treat heartburn, sour
stomach, acid indigestion, or upset stomach can cause stomach or intestinal
bleeding, especially in some people.

More women
die from heart disease than from any other cause. FDA gives tips to help women
take action and prevent problems. Resources from FDA can help women of all ages
learn how to use FDA-approved drugs and devices safely to prevent and treat
heart disease.
