The FDA Office of Minority Health (OMH) was established in 2010, as required by the Affordable Care Act.
FDA’s Office of Minority Health will work to support FDA’s mission to protect the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, the food supply, biological products, medical devices, cosmetics, radiation-emitting products and by regulating tobacco.
FDA's Office of Minority Health will achieve its mission by:
- Coordinating minority health efforts across the Agency
- Advocating within and outside the Agency for the appropriate participation of racial and ethnic minorities in clinical trials and analyses of subpopulation data
- Communicating Agency information to minority groups
- Promoting the participation of minority health professionals in FDA activities
The FDA has resources to help minority communities safely use the medicines, foods and other products the Agency regulates.
