Since health reform became law, we have taken big steps forward to help put you in control of your own health care. The new law is designed to protect individuals and families from insurance company abuses, and give you access to the care you need to stay healthy and avoid getting sick.
To talk about what the Affordable Care Act means for women and families, including new rules on preventive care, please join us this Thursday, July 22, at 11:45am ET for a webchat with HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Donna Norton, National Campaign Director at MomsRising, and Fran Drescher, President of "The Cancer Schmancer Movement."
Tune in this Thursday, July 22, at 11:45am ET at www.HealthCare.gov/live to watch the discussion.
We’ll talk about accomplishments to date and take a look at what’s to come:
- Did you know that a few months from now, all new plans will be required to cover certain preventive services such as mammograms and colonoscopies without charging a deductible, co-pay or coinsurance?
- Or that it will be illegal for insurance companies to rescind coverage when patients report getting sick? This means breast cancer patients won’t run the risk of losing coverage once the illness is diagnosed.
- Did you know that young adults under the age of 26 may become eligible to stay on parents’ plans, and that the law includes also new rules to prevent insurance companies from denying coverage to children under the age of 19 due to a pre-existing condition?
Join us for the webchat this Thursday at 11:45am ET when we’ll talk about these topics and more, and take questions directly from the MomsRising community.
Watch at www.HealthCare.gov/live.
Thank you,
Jenny Backus
Acting Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs
